UPDATES- 28, JANUARY, 2008- Great new for the Deisho! I've just received some fantastic looking prototype images of the new Dom'Oung'Tao Carrier! Check 'em out!
It's very exciting to see these as I was afraid that I would have had to redo the model to make it cheaper to prototype... Too much material usage. But, it turned out great, and it looks absolutely awesome! Release information is still forthcoming from Ravenstar. But, I imagine we're getting very close. And, this picture should be a great indication to some very solid progress toward bringing back the Cold Navy line to you guys. Cheers! 24, DECEMBER, 2007- A New Year and a New Beginning! I'd like to introduce to you the new owners of Cold Navy- Ravenstar Studios! These guys are a great bunch of folks that are both talented, easy to work with and have a stong enthusiasm for the starship miniature industry. I'm really excited to see this product line go to their capable hands. I'm even more excited to be offered the opportunity to continue to work with the line and use this website as a means to produce fiction and 3d sculpts for you to enjoy. Here are some ideas that I have brewing to whet your appetites: Firstly, I have just a little more work on the Deisho Heavy Cruiser, the Bao'Gung'Tao. This is the final ship in the five and it is about 50% complete. The Carrier, the Don'Oung'Tao is finished, but, due to its size it presents a challenge with regard to prototyping- it's so big, it takes up a costly level of material to prototype. Joe is working with the prototype about pricing, but, I may end up having to hollow it out to make it cheaper to prototype while still making it work on the casting machine. Next is the Tokadii. The C42 Cruiser is done and prototyped. I just need to get the webwork done for it so you can see it in all its glory. Then, I want to get some new ship out for each of the other factions- Terran, Mauridian and Kharadorn. Other ideas I have on the horizon are: Fighters. Joe asked me about making some 3d sculpts for the fighters. I'm thinking I would put together a set of fighters that are about in-scale with the ships. These would be quite small and I'm working at developing a flight stand that will give these fighters the appearance of flight. There's more though and I'm thinking of offering up a set of 1/144th scale versions of these fighters as master class kits for the modeling enthusiast. 1/144th scale is a very popular scale for fighter craft and would make these kits, multi-part in nature, great for modelers and fighter wargamers alike. There's lots of work to be done. And, I will be working throughout this holiday break to get something really good for you all here on the website. In the meantime, have a great holiday and I'll see you soon! |
